At the same time, scribe F. Scott Frazier has been tapped to work on the Paramount action project.

Timur Bekmambetov
and F. Scott Frazier are putting the heat in Paramount’s Heatseekers.

Bekmambetov, who last helmed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, has come aboard to direct the aerial action movie while Frazer will whip the script into shape.

The project has a platinum pedigree: Michael Bay is producing with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller of the Paramount-based Platinum Dunes banner. Chris Morgan, best known is the writer behind many of the Fast and Furious movies, is also producing.

Paramount Pictures acquired the spec script by George Mahaffey for a reported six-figure deal in 2010.

Plot details are scarce but it is known to center on an ex-military pilot who takes on a group of aerial pirates.

Bekmambetov, repped by WME, is the Russian filmmaker who made his American debut with the Angelina Jolie hit Wanted and is known for his visually stylish films. While Vampire Hunter didn’t do well domestically, grossing only $37.5 million, it did well internationally, for a total of $116 million.

Frazier is currently completing assignments at Universal (Day One) and MGM (Metro 2033). Line of Sight, his action project set up at Warner Bros. with Joel Silver producing, recently signed-up Mike "Mouse" McCoy (Act of Valor) to helm. He is repped by WME and DMG Entertainment.
